Senior Editor – Global Healthcare Communications – Up to £40K + Bonus + Benefits

The Role

Senior Medical Editor on the global healthcare communications team of this forward thinking and innovative Clinical Research Organisation in Berkshire.

  • Edit and proofread copy to agreed style and specification, checking content, clarity, accuracy, consistency, syntax and grammar. Collaborating with creative designers on design options.
  • Mark up approved copy and draw up page plans for typesetting.
  • Check all proof stages from initial layouts to printers’ proofs.
  • Assist in the development of production schedules and with estimating editorial hours for budgeting.
  • Therapy areas include rare diseases, immunology, nephrology and osteoporosis.
  • Apply your Medical Editor expertise to a wide range of materials including exhibitions, stage-sets, congress materials, pitch presentations and digital media.

You

Experienced in medical editing from a medical communication or publishing environment, you will have a passion for scientific accuracy and editorial excellence.

  • Excellent copy-editing and proofreading skills to QC checking standard.
  • Degree qualified
  • Knowledge of standard copy-editing and proof correction marks, along with scientific copy preparation and styling guidelines.
  • Able to critically review copy, questioning client and author correction and providing constructive feedback to colleagues.
  • Good knowledge of print and production procedures.
  • Ability to mentor.
  • Familiarity with publication planning databases (desirable).
  • Strong computer skills, including MS office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and reference.
