We asked one of our recently placed Medical Communications candidates what a typical day as an Account Director looks like. This is what they said:
What does a normal working day as a Medical Communications Account Director look like to you?
It’s difficult to say because no two days are the same. On a normal day, it starts with reviewing my to-do list and deciding what my priorities for the day and/or for the rest of the week. I review my diary to see if there are meetings coming up, while getting a handle on what’s needed to ensure I have clear objectives and an agenda. I’ll also meet with other members of the medical communications team to check on project status and/or if there’s any questions.
What hours do you typically work as an Account Director?
At least 8 hours, but this can vary depending on what med comms we're currently working on.
How do you commute to and from the office?
By train.
What do you love most about your job as an Account Director within Medical Communications?
Most days are different. Data and technology is enabling healthcare and communications to be delivered consistently to improve patient care and the change is rapid. It’s an exciting time to be working in healthcare and med comms.
What’s the most challenging thing about the work you do?
Managing stakeholders in a very complex and competitive environment. This requires stamina/ resilience to navigate complexity around projects and working with multiple stakeholders.

Describe your company:
As a healthcare agency we drill down into the data, interpreting it to develop clinical insights that help explain why people really do what they do rather than what they think they will do.
